Hades 2 has just received its third patch. The action roguelike from Supergiant Games, which launched in Early Access this past May 6th, has a new update that includes a multitude of changes and improvements. These include many enhancements to combat, new user interface icons, Cauldron enchantments, and much more.
Hades 2 Gets Another Massive Patch
Hades 2 will remain in Early Access at least until the end of the year, so to enjoy its version 1.0, we’ll have to wait until 2025, when it will also be released on consoles. However, the team has not set a specific date to finish the game and will release it when it’s ready.

Many patches like this one are expected to follow during early access, always based on the feedback from the first players. But the first major content update will arrive in a few months, and it will include new features, locations, enemies, and other content.
Once released, they will again release small patches based on feedback, repeating this process until they believe the game is ready.
General Gameplay Updates
- Many Duo Boons and some Legendary Boons should be offered more frequently
- Charon’s Gold Rewards now include Nightmare after a certain point
- Reworked Gathering Tool upgrades; now let you find +1 Elemental Essence for your Infusion Boons
- Entering while in the no longer causes you to skip a Location in that region
- Slightly increased the minimum number of Boons and similar rewards you can find past Erebus
- Warding Circles in Erebus now stagger foes that touch them

Weapon Adjustments
All weapons received small adjustments to how they work. When using the Witch’s Staff, indirect damage will count to activate Serenity. Hit-stun effects during Riposte won’t affect you when using the Sister Blades. The devs improved the Omega Attack tracking, slightly increased the Magick cost, and reduced max damage from the upgrade path for the Umbral Flames. And now, any Cast damage will extend the Omega Special, not just Omega Cast.

Altar of Ashes Has Been Updated
- Rearranged Grasp costs and positions of several Cards; you may need to reset your Arcana loadout
- Swapped the names and theming of The Moon and Night
- Death: reworked; Omega moves have a chance to deal Critical damage if the last one used was different
- The Moon: now costs 0 Grasp but has an Awakening requirement to activate any surrounding Card
- The Unseen: improved Magick restoration
- Divinity: Awakening requirement expanded to include activating a column of Cards (not just a row)
- Origination: now specifies that Curses from different Olympians are required; this is relevant with Demeter, whose Cyclone now is considered a Curse (along with her Freeze)

New Incantations
There are six new incantations in the Crossroads Cauldron. Here is what they do:
- Temporal Fluctuation: Time-slow effects such as Phase Shift work against Chronos.
- Circles of the Moon: Activating Warding Circles in Erebus fully charges your Hex.
- Ashen Memories of Life: Claiming rewards of Ash, slightly raise your Life limit.
- Psychic Slivers of Clarity: Claiming rewards of Psyche, slightly raise your Magick limit.
- Bones of Burnished Bronze: Claiming rewards of Bones, you gain some Armor.
- Nectar of Godly Savor: Claiming rewards of Nectar, gain +1 Lv. for a random Boon.

As we mentioned in our impressions, Hades II is a great sequel that maintains the essence and everything we loved about the first game, while also evolving the formula enough to have its own personality and feel like a true sequel.
Currently available only on PC, we’ll have to wait until 2025 for it to be available on consoles as well. You can find the full list of changes in the announcement posted by Supergiant Games studio on Steam.
